Akademik iletişimin en göze çarpan üslup yönlerinden biri de yazarların, küçük bir belirsizliğin mevcut olabileceği durumlarda mutlak kesinliği ifade etmekten ve az sayıda istisnanın olabileceği durumlarda aşırı genellemeler yapmaktan kaçınma eğilimidir.
